Drive southwards through the countryside to visit Shahba (famous with its baths) - proceed to Sweida to visit its museum - continue to visit Bosra's amphitheater- drive back to Damascus.

THE CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION
Syria the Mediterranean country is since earliest times, by reason of its strategic position, has been one of the main trade crossroads of the ancient world. War and trade have shaped the whole course of history, life, and culture of the country and became an early seat of culture and a bridge between other ancient cultures, very rich in archeological monuments and relics. Syria is the paradise of archeologists (Baron Openhein), ancient Mesopotamia, early Christianity; the glories of Islam, the Crusades, all have left their footsteps and fingerprints to be admired by tourists. From the Mediterranean seashore to the desert (Palmyra), you come across the beautiful mountains, forests, hills, fertile valleys steppes, with Mediterranean climate and four distinct seasons.

ENTRY FORMALITIES:
A valid passport with an entry visa. Any amount of foreign currency could be brought into Syria. However,

HOW TO GET THERE:
The national carrier (Syrian Airline) and the major international airlines connect Damascus, the main gateway to Syria, with all continents. By land, highways with Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey connect Syria. There are seaport facilities at Lattakia and Tartous.
ACCOMMODATION:
There are international (five stars) hotels in Syria: (Sheraton, Meridian, Ebla, Semir Ameis, Cham Palace hotels), numerous first and second-class hotels are found throughout the country. Chalets and camps are also available along the coastline during summer.
TRANSPORTATION:
coaches, cars and trains serve all major cities. Special tourist coaches and cars are available.
(Syrian Air) has domestic flights connecting Damascus with the principal cities. City transport includes taxes, buses and coaches.
CURRENCY:
The Syrian pound (called Lira) is divided into 100 piasters. The band notes are 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 500. 1000 liras. The coins are 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 2500 piasters.

MEDIA:
Daily Arabic newspapers as well as foreign periodicals are sold at many newsstands, and can be read at web sites. Local radio and television programs are broadcasted daily in Arabic, French and English.There is also a Syrian Satellite channel, which is telecasting 24 hours.
CULTURE AND ART:
Cultural and artistic life is active all the year around. Art exhibitions are held almost weekly. Annual international festivals for dance and music take place in the midst of two splendid historical sites: Bosra (September) and Palmyra (April).
In addition to that are Damascus international fair (September), Damascus international flower show (July).
CUISINE:
There is a great diversity in the Syrian cuisine, which is reputed throughout the Arab world. The best-known dishes are Kibbeh (pounded lamb meat and crushed wheat), which itself comes in countless variations, Meshwi (skewered grilled meat) hoummos (chickpeas puree). Tabbouleh (cracked wheat salad), and kounafa pastry (shredded baked cream of pistachio, covered with syrup). Western cuisine is available in all international hotels and major restaurants.
SHOPPING:
Shopping in Syria is an endless delight due to the variety, beauty and fame of Syrian products and handicrafts such as: brocades, mosaics, hand-blown glass, embroideries, engraved copper works, silverworks, etc.

CANCELLATION:
-No cancellation fees are charged if made 30 days prior to arrival.
-If on shorter notice, 30% is to be charged.
